The National Wrestling Alliance is announcing that World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima will defend at an NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling event in Nashville, TN on May 30.

This is Kojima’s second confirmed U.S. defense of the title, as he is scheduled to defend at NWA Houston the following night.

The NWA World Heavyweight Championship is the oldest and most prestigious professional wrestling championship in the world, having been created in 1948 when Orville Brown defeated Sonny Myers on January 5, 1948. Since then, the holders of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship include the greatest of all time including Lou Thesz, Pat O’Connor, Buddy Rogers, Terry and Dory Funk, Jr., Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Kerry Von Erich, Ricky Steamboat, Sting, Barry Windham and Dan Severn. Kojima won the title by defeating Rob Conway in Tokyo, Japan on January 4.

“We are excited and honored to be able to have the World Heavyweight Champion of the NWA,” said NWA SAW promoter Tim Thomason, “but it is extra special being able have Kojima, a true New Japan legend, here at SAW.”
